Straddling the Hauhungaroa and Rangitoto Ranges between Lake Taupo and Te Kuiti, the Pureora Forest Park is a hidden wonderland of trees, rivers and wildlife.
A 78,000 hectare park managed by Department of Conservation (DOC), home to wild pigs, deer and goats, it's a bird watchers haven and an ideal spot for observing native birds in their natural habitat.
Visitors to the Pureora Forest Park are spoiled for choice with a number of spectacular viewpoints, a Buried Forest, the largest Totara tree in New Zealand, and a Vintage steam hauler.
